In 1976, this Lincoln, Ala., native proved that she was the best three-meter springboard diver in the world. She won the Gold Medal at the Montreal Olympics to prove it. The year before she had won the Gold Medal at the Pan American games. Since she was eight years old, she had won more than 100 first place medals in diving competition. She now resides in Birmingham and is the Educational Outreach Director at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
