Vincent "Bo" Jackson

Bo Jackson

This native son of Bessemer, Ala., was a three-sport, All State performer at McAdory High School. Jackson received an athletic scholarship to Auburn University in 1982 and was All SEC in 1982, '83, and '85 and All American in 1983 and '85. In 1985 he received the highest honor in college football, the Heisman Trophy. Drafted by both the NFL and Major League Baseball, Jackson signed to play baseball for the Kansas City Royals. In 1987 he also signed with the Los Angeles Raiders and became a two-sport star. In 1989, he was the MVP for the Major League Baseball All Star game, and the following year was a Pro Bowl selection in the NFL. An injury resulted in an early retirement from his outstanding professional career.
